We put LVT in 80% of the house. We put tile in the mudroom, the laundry, and the bathrooms as I wanted tile whereever water might be an issue (even though our LVT is supposedly waterproof, not just water-resistant). Anyhow, the biggest advantage of LVT is that it stays warm. We put in the under-floor heater in the bathroom, but not in the laundry or mudroom and the tile gets cold! It's nice to walk barefoot in the house and not cringe (I just avoid the laundry and mud room in the mornings).
We chose a wood plank look and have had it for a couple months now. We wanted something durable (we have a 90 pound Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback plus 2 kids), easy-to-maintain, and pleasantly attractive but not something that shows every speck of dust/hairball/etc. LVT met all those standards and we're very pleased. We don't plan to sell the house (I want to age in place here) so I'm hoping it lasts decades.

Great to know a cost estimate. In theory we can leave tile and put vinyl over it - we will see. Area is odd - some things really really reasonable and others are not. We will definitely get a couple bids.
Also good to know someone else did LVP “most places” and tile in bathrooms. I will likely still want to do all at once so I can coordinate. The carpet we originally picked out was discontinued before we could order. I’ve had that happen with lighting that I was planning to coordinate around too.

Luxury vinyl or tile? Other flooring thoughts?
OP, I love the concept of "actively tacky"!! I had a condo once that could have been the poster child for several examples, particularly fully carpeted bathrooms!! And lots of wallpaper—in the bathrooms, the built-in (recessed) medicine cabinets were even covered with wallpaper!
About flooring — when I moved into my current apartment 13 years ago, I chose laminate flooring because I didn’t want to spend the money on hardwood (and I had never heard of wood plank tile — maybe it wasn’t yet a thing, although some recent neighbors have chosen it and it looks very nice). It is still in surprisingly good shape although it would definitely not be mistaken for actual hardwood. But it’s been fine. I’m not promoting laminate, just noting that most of us just make the best choice at the time and hope it works out.

Haha yep - exactly. The difference between 'not my taste at all but I can appreciate it/I can tell it's done well ' and 'ewwwwwww'.

Right - I think LVP (at least in general usage) is newer than '13 years ago'. Love the bit at the end - it's both why I'm asking for opinions/information now, and something good to remember when I finally do make a decision!

when we did our first floor remodel we put in wood look tile everywhere so the entire downstairs is now all the same floor. it is GORGEOUS. i LOVE it. so easy to clean. and bonus keeps our house cool. I absolutely recommend.
When we redid our master bath upstairs we did slate tile floors. we love those too!

Thanks. I really need to look to see if tile can have smaller (thinner) grout lines - that would sway my decision... but it I can find LVP that works I think the price will tilt the scale heavily that way!
