Default Favorite sled? Is the LLB snow tube still the winner?

    https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/4355...re.7m8EnekPF5E

Wirecutter and an older BBB thread let me to it. Is it the best one? What size for a teen girl? and teen/tween boys? Something said adults of 6' need the XL but something else said anyone over 5 needs the XL....any experience?

We love the snow tube however it is HEAVY to carry or drag uphill. I’m not sure which size we have. We tend to use it on short hills. For kids or anyone who complains about the uphill portion of sledding the plastic ones are the best because they are lightweight so easy to carry uphill. Costco used to have a foam one I think it is Body Glove brand that is also really light.

ETA: When the snow was fresh and powdery we would use the tube to make the sledding track. So it does come in handy. It is really fun & teens may not complain about the weight as much. Pretty sure when I bought 10 years ago there was only one size... and it is still in great shape.

We have these https://www.costco.com/vipernex-50%2...100681242.html and no complaints. All of the kids at the snow hill are always trying to use them. They seem to work in all types of snow, whereas other sleds we've had don't.

We like the snow tube for really big steep hills, especially if you are going over jumps!

But for little hills they are slooooow. The kids much prefer the disk sleds I bought at a yard sale for $1, they go super fast! similar to these:

We do a lot of sledding up here, and our favourites have always been the light plastic ones like this: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/t...0083p.html#srp

We like them because they’re easy to drag up the hill, and you can go down in multiple positions (sitting up, lying down feet first or head first, etc). You can get them in lots of different lengths- Bonus if it’s extra long and you can go 2 or 3 people together!

We like having a variety of sleds. The plastic long ones are fun for riding together, the foam ones with a slick bottom aren’t super durable but can be fast, the round plastic ones are fun because they have no directionality. My kids are allowed to bring the roll up sleds for recess. We also have zipfy sleds which are fun to set up a little run for and sturdy enough to do a bit of a jump. Adults and kids ride all of the above and we often trade at the sled hill (small town and you are likely to run into friends).

Yes! I was coming to post these ones from Costco. They are easy to carry and last all winter without breaking. They are much cheaper if you can get to a costco store.
