Default My grandma has been exposed to covid!

You'll remember my post just 2 weeks ago about my mom and I visiting my 96 year old grandma for her birthday. Well 4 days after our visit my uncle and his wife visited her for her birthday. They did not wear masks and spent the day at her house with her, my aunt, and handicapped uncle who also live there. 3 days after their visit both my uncle and his wife started feeling sick with shortness of breath, cough, and chest pain (my uncle has a history of severe asthma). This was the day before Thanksgiving so they decided to stay home instead of visiting my grandma again! Well my uncle just tested positive for covid today! He's 71.His wife is too sick and weak to even get tested (I think she's 80)! So irresponsible and maddening! They are both Trump supporters who haven't been taking things seriously. And now my aunt, who lives with my grandma, refuses to take my grandma and handicapped uncle to go get tested! My handicapped uncle started having a cough and trouble swallowing 2 days ago.

I’m so sorry How completely sad and disrespectful of them. What is up with the 70 year olds downplaying this??? In my family, we have some frequenting casinos then hanging out with other relatives. Praying your grandma kept her distance!

My kids have been better at accepting the Covid restrictions than most of the older adults I know. It’s very much toddler type ‘I want to do what I want and I don’t care what you say’ behavior. It’s mind boggling.

Ditto. I'm so sorry. Keeping my fingers crossed they have mild cases and are well again soon.

Thank goodness your mom (with you dragged along) visited before the uncle came over, and not afterwards. I'm so sorry. Your handicapped uncle feeling sick and not getting checked out really gets to my heart!

Oh nooo.. I remember you mentioning visiting these people. I’m so sorry to hear that. I just hope they all come out OK and that they learn from the experience.

Unfortunately my uncle and his wife are already very sick. They are both extremely weak and can't even get out of bed. My uncle can barely breathe. My mom has told him he needs to get a pulse ox since he already has severe asthma. They may need to head to the ER soon if they get any worse. It's been 6 days since symptoms started and I know symptoms tend to get worse the second week.

My mom has been trying to convince my aunt to get tested and to take my handicapped uncle and grandma to get tested as well. So far my aunt has only responded with: "I don't need to know," "who cares," "stop being paranoid," "there's no cure so what's the point of testing," and "I don't feel sick." And then she heads to work every day at her factory where she's already had 6 coworkers test positive! I can't with these people!!!!

Oh no, I’m so sorry. I hope your grandma doesn’t get it. Why are people so irresponsible?
