I know there was a thread about a group gift a few weeks ago. I was curious how people are handling individual gifts, especially if kids are working remotely.
In our district, K-2 are back in person -- everyone else returns in January. However, all teachers are working in the building, even if they are still teaching remotely. So I can drop gifts off at the school.
My go-to gift is a Bath and Body Works hand soap and a $25 or $30 gift card to Target. But this year in fifth grade, DS started the year with three core teachers (math, language arts, science/social studies) plus all the specials. But in preparation for returning to in-person and issues surrounding that, some of his teachers changed this week. He got a new science teacher and added a reading specialist. So now he has four core teachers. I can't afford $25 gift cards for them all, so would $10 be OK? And I guess I should give something to his previous science teacher. What about specials? I honestly have never gotten them anything, but I've gotten to know them a lot better this year since I have to photograph/record assignments and send them in.
And on top of all that, am I going to look silly showing up at school with an armful of tiny gift bags during these Covid times? If you are a teacher, would you take it? I'd prefer not to send e-gift cards to work email addresses as it could come across as spam. I really don't know what makes sense.
