    Default Moderna needs teen volunteers

I was trying to figure out where they are in the vaccine research with teens and kids. It seems Moderna is having a hard time getting teen volunteers and is recruiting. Here is a link.

You do have to be able to get to one of their testing centers, and looks like there would be a total of 6 visits in just over a year. Currently the testing centers are

    Actively Recruiting

    • Meridian, ID, US
    • Houston, TX, US
    • San Antonio, Texas, US
    • La Mesa, California, US

Currently Inactive (I believe they plan to do these soon)

    • (Not yet recruiting) Syracuse, NY, US
    • (Recruiting) West Jordan, UT, US
    • (Recruiting) Minneapolis, MN, US
    • (Not yet recruiting) Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US
    • (Not yet recruiting) Banning, California, US
    • (Not yet recruiting) Valparaiso, Indiana, US

Ds and I would totally sign him up, but we are not close enough to any of the centers.

We aren't close at all to any sites and DS who is almost 15 has severe egg, peanut, sesame, sunflower allergies so probably not a candidate, but if we were closer I'd at least ask.

We're about 2 hours from one that hasn't started recruiting yet. DS has a peanut and cashew allergy but I'd let him do it if it doesn't exclude him (I'm sure it would though). He's actually asked if there's one he could be in.

Wish they had one near us. DD said she’d be happy to participate.

Looks like Pfizer is looking for 12-15 year olds and has many sites available.

Looks like DS is excluded from Phase 1 of the Pfizer because his takes (well, is supposed to take) an inhaled steroid for mild asthma. But for those with just food allergies, I don't see anything that specifically excludes them, only if you've reacted to the ingredients or medicine. Wonder how I can see when phase 2 of the study starts.

Where are you seeing where the sites are located? I can't find that info. Thanks!

It took me awhile to find and I don't remember how but I still had the tab open! If you click show more it pulls up the whole list.

I think this is most likely phase 3 testing as phase 1 and 2 testing only involves several hundred (or fewer) people. Explanation of phases explained here: https://discoveries.childrenshospita...vaccines-kids/

Dang! I just searched for under 18, trials currently recruiting, within 100 mi of my family, and found a number in New England including one about 5 miles from their house!!! I’ll look in more detail and forward the info to them. DGD1 (16) might be eligible, DGD2 (9) is too young.
