No personal experience but after seeing a bunch of noom ads, I looked for reviews (not on the noom site) and they were pretty uniformly negative. They focused on not getting the services they had expected and difficulty canceling.

A friend of mine did it and she's had great success and raves about it. She's a huge, huge fan and recommends it highly.

I signed up for a trial, but it kinda creeped me out and I deleted it right away. I still get emails and one offered "90% off", it prompted me to look into it again and I'm not sure about their math b/c it was nowhere near 90% off. Ha.

I did it for many months.....it was a clock and bait. It’s very simplistic, nothing that you wouldn’t know if you had read the simplest thing Re weight loss. Also, all the ancillary services they provide are non existent. The coach who is supposed to chat with you once a week? Never answered after the first message. It’s all promise and no production. I was sorely disappointed

yes! I did the 5 month session starting in Aug they advised and lost like 35ish lbs and its totally changed my mindset on food. A few comments:
-start with a BMR and TDEE calculator and try to figure out your maintenance calories and figure out a reasonable deficit from there, noom likes to put everyone on a 1200 calorie deficit
-do the work, get a journal and work through the process
-make 1 healthy change at a time. My first goal was not eating candy at work. Then I added more water, started packing lunches, started walking 3-4 days a week... it's not a all or nothing sort of thing, its about small sustainable changes that you will keep for life. I'm still adding new stuff every couple weeks
-when your goal coach asks you weird scripted questions give them more. Melissa (my goal specialist) and I really connected-but I had to put in the work too. I miss her!
-look for a coupon code-they are a bunch floating around
-part of the way through I started listening to the half sized me podcast-they go really well together and the additional tips really helped me (eating windows, delayed gratification etc)
-I am now 2 or 3 weeks out of noom and have continued to lose weight. I am less than 4 lbs from a normal BMI and feel amazing
-I would do it all over in a heartbeat. Its helped me as a covid nurse, as a mom to teens, my mindset is totally changed and I am so much happier. It was the best thing I did

I don't really know. I AM an introvert. I don't like to be "coached" and rah-rah'd at. So, it probably was never for me. The "coach" seemed like half-bot / half-nosey judgey neighbor. She both felt overly familiar and not at all human. Lol. I just noped on out. I didn't want that in my phone and I certainly didn't want to pay for it! Ha.

Like I said though, a friend absolutely loves it. So, clearly, if you are the right type for it, it might be amazing. It just gave me full-body cringe though. I couldn't do it.

Thanks for sharing. I’m not seriously considering it but was curious about your experience.

    Default Noom

I tried it two years ago and it wasn’t for me. I think I lost 3lbs. over the 3 months I was on it. I went back to Weight Watchers.

I had the same feeling that KHM did about her coach. I didn’t feel like she was real. I wanted it to work but realized it just wasn’t for me.

I did it two years ago after I had gained some weight after my dad died, and lost about 15 lbs- kept it off successfully until the pandemic kicked in and I've been working from home and moving a lot less. I signed up again at the end of 2020 because they were running a pretty great deal and the second time around is going ok. I don't think I'm quite in the right mindset yet to really make it work, but it does make me more aware of the things I do throughout the day that contribute to my overall health.

I personally like all the psychology tips that are integrated into the program, but I know it's not for everyone. The peer support group function hasn't been working for me yet, I don't know if that really is a big deal in my personal situation but I should probably look into getting it figured out so that it's there if I want to use it. I do like that it's pretty easy to track your food and water intake, and the "lessons" are in easy to digest chunks.
