My grandmother will be 100 in April. She is frail, but quite sharp. I hadn't seen her in about a year. She lives in an independent living community, but had fallen in December, ended up needing a knee replacement due to a bad fracture, and had to go to a nursing home for rehab for a while. She hit the nursing home just as things were peaking in late December but so fortunately got the vaccine in early January and escaped COVID. She was discharged from rehab last week and since we are both fully vaccinated I stopped by for a cup of tea this afternoon. I helped her with choosing her menu for the week (the facility delivers her meals for her), and emptied her trash. While we were talking, her iPad kept dinging because she had alerts going for "words with friends"
I feel so so so lucky that she didn't get COVID this past year, and that she made it back home and I got to see her again.
