Truly squirrel proof bird feeder?

Does anyone have a recommendation? Dh loves feeding the birds but basically quit because the squirrels outfoxed his attempts to keep them off and devour the food so quickly. So many feeders claim to be squirrel proof but they are wily suckers. Have you found a feeder that really works?

We gave up and feed the squirrels and birds. Probably not the answer you were looking for though. Now if you can get the rabbits and deer to leave my flowers and bushes alone, I'd be eternally grateful.

knock on wood but so far my plats are surviving after a liberal dousing of Liquid Fence or Deer Off.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. DS1 (11) is completely obsessed with squirrels. We’ve been feeding them during the pandemic and we have several who live in our yard.

And yes, squirrels can get into almost any bird feeder. But as the video demonstrates, squirrels are much more interesting to watch than birds.

If you choose a feed that squirrels don’t like that’s your best bet. Right now we just have nyjer seed and the squirrels haven’t really messed with it. The cheaper sock feeders will get shredded quickly but you can get an all metal feeder and those hold up better in the long run. The seed isn’t cheap either, but it lasts a while. Main visitors are goldfinch, juncos, some sparrows, occasional chickadees. So not as diverse a crowd, but also no traditional seed hogs.

It truly does work. I thought DH was crazy when he spend $100 on our first feeder. But that was over five years ago and I've watched squirrels try to get to it and they do not. Can't even shake and put food on the ground like they used to. Plus it has lasted for five full years. Still in great shape.

I think we bought the first one at HD or Lowe's, and then ordered second one online.

DS uses a baffle on the pole as well. We paid around $25, I would buy it again.
