How much to tip?

We recently won an item in a charity auction - to have the chef of a local restaurant come to our house and cook a meal for us. The meal was valued at $300. The chef will be coming to our home to cook the meal, and also bringing an assistant with her.

How much would you tip the chef? What about the assistant?

I would think $50 each but you could go lower.

I would be generous. Rough math - if real cost is $300, 20% is $60 which would be my starting point between them. Assuming you are happy with what they do, I'd round up to $100 and get to $50 each, as jgenie suggested.

Ok, thank you both for weighing in! I didn't want to influence people so I left out what I was thinking from the original post, but DH and I had also already guessed $50 each, so it's good to see that validated!
