Default Visiting Boston with Teens/Tweens - Recommendations??

I know we have some posters in the Boston area and others that have traveled there. I'm looking for must-see sights with older kids (15, 12 and 9) or anything that's fun and unique to Boston? We will also need to feed these bottomless pits so casual restaurants with good food ideas appreciated. DH and I have been several times without kids. We loved the city and thought it would be a fun end to our summer vacation to Maine. We have 3 nights/2.5 days and right now they are wide open!

Where are you staying? It would help narrow down the food choices.

Boston Harbor Islands, it’s pretty easy to hit 2 islands in one day. Definitely do George’s Island with the fort for one of them. If you time it right you can also do an hour or so in the Aquarium or just do a short walk along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. You can close out the day by having dinner in the North End which is a quick walk away. Check out Trip Advisor for good family restaurants. Big pasta dishes should fill them up. You can pick up pastries for dessert and maybe breakfast the next day.

I think Dim Sum in Chinatown is fun at those ages.

The Hatch Shell on the Esplanade has free Friday Night Flicks. They haven’t announce their summer schedule yet. Check it out before you go.

    Walk the Freedom Trail.

    Duck Tours are actually good.

My kids always enjoy Legal Seafood. The one in the Seaport has a great view. You can walk over the bridge, check out the Boston Tea Party Museum on the way, visit The Lawn on Ave D. The ICA museum is there also. It’s not as big as the MFA, but they always have interactive exhibits.

Are you driving or flying? If driving how would you be leaving? Would you want to see something on your way out?
