DD1 has getting one on her list to do before college. Can y'all help find one? She wants one that does as much as possible, in terms of dress up or down. Bonus points if it is machine or hand washable. She's 5'1" or 5'2", probably about a 4 or 6.

I could use one, too - I don't think I will ever get back into mine comfortably again. And nope, she does not want my old one, though it still looks great! It has a boat neck, not her favorite neckline. I am more like an 8.

This might not be dressy enough but it's come in handy for some events for me https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Oh, I see it's OOS. Here's a comparable (there are a ton of other options too....just follow the Amazon rabbit hole) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MNFL9VW...dWU&th=1&psc=1
I also have another black tulip hem dress that I bought at Nordstrom. No longer in stock there.

I have one like these 2 and it is so flattering. Runs a bit big.

I have this too (in grey) that works for work or an event depending on accessories https://www.macys.com/shop/product/c...tchColor=Black

Not sure how this would be because of the fabric but the cut is versatile https://www.macys.com/shop/product/c...ategoryID=5449

Ooh, on the page for the grey one, I found this one:

I think a sheath dress is what she was thinking of, as it is one of the most flexible styles. Knowing how to narrow the search down helps. The zipper on this particular one is a bit too flashy, perhaps - she is going for understated and dressy, but I think I have a sense of the direction now......she came home from the thrift store with a pencil skirt today.

I think the last one has some possibilities as well - she likes the retro housewife vibe.

I will chat with her and see where it goes! Thank you SnuggleBuggles!

For a college student, check Lulu's and other online places as they will have more youthful styles.

I took a look, and she is wanting a "dinner with the relatives somewhere nice/interview" dress, so there wasn't a lot there. Lulu's would be great for a date night, or a party dress, though!

The Rack has the same CK dress for a chunk less than Macy's. There is a nice one at Ann Taylor, but that may be too "old" for her - beautifully tailored, though, and pockets! Also comes in petite, which may be needful. Old Navy actually has some really nice looking ponte dresses that look great and are at a nice price point, but all sold out in her size. I'll keep an eye open and see if they restock.

Boden’s short sleeved jersey faux wrap dress is my favorite. I have a few prior incarnations of it in different colors/patterns.

I am so out of touch with what a college aged girl would wear and tbh I only had two fancy LBDs in college and both came from Nordstrom. If I needed something casual I would’ve liked at Charlotte Rusee or Wet Seal. Pre kids when I had money I would’ve looked at J Crew.

I wear the 3/4-sleeve version of this dress as my gig dress. I love that the fabric is substantial without being too sweaty under stage lights!

Is this for parties or some other function? Any pics of college aged girls I see are not anything like the styles found at most places the moms shop here. I showed DD who is 18 some of these and she said, not even a chance she'd wear any of these. She suggested Romwe, Lulu's, Shein (online) as well as forever 21, places like that. Also any of the Instagram influencers often post great links to cute stuff. You can find some pretty dresses for less than 50 dollars just about anywhere, even Tj maxx, Nordstrom rack. For a business event like an academic meet and greet maybe something conservative like from the loft but a lbd party dress is going to be from one of the youthful places. I seem to find that when you aren't specifically looking is when find something and you should grab it to have.
