    Default Favorite Apple recipes

My ILs have a very happy apple tree in their back yard. They've given us countless pounds of apples this summer. I don't know what kind they are-they have light green skin but are sweeter than golden delicious or granny Smith. The kids and I generally like honey crisp the best, so the apples from the ILs are a little "sandier" than we like for just eating as-is But they are great for cooking. So far I've made apple tarts, apple pie, several jars of apple butter (still have a few jars in the fridge), a giant batch of cinnamon apples to put on waffles, oats, etc (half of which is still in the freezer), and a pork/apple/egg noodle dish.
I'm out of ideas. I don't want to waste the apples but I also don't want to dedicate my limited free time making unsuccessful things. I'm not a great cook but I follow directions really well. I have an IP and an air fryer. Any tried and true great apple recipes??

This is a family favorite of ours. I always skip the optional alcohol so no idea how it would be https://fulltummies.blogspot.com/201...pice-cake.html

    What about applesauce?

I don't have a recipe, per se, but my kids live applesauce.

If you have the freezer space, you can always process them (peel, core and slice or dice) and decide what to do with them later!

    Dehydrating is fun, too.

We have two productive apple trees. I pretty much only make apple crisp. Ours are pretty good for eating. Any that we don’t use, I chop up and toss with lemon juice and freeze them. That way, I can have apple crisp all year long. My neighbor makes apple sauce

One of my families favorite pizzas is an apple cheddar pizza. Brush pizza dough with olive oil, sliced apples, shredded cheddar, cook. They love it.

Also any butternut squash soup recipe can have apples through in as a substitute for about 1/3 of the squash and it can be frozen easily for later.

I also make a traditional Polish red cabbage dish with apples. Here’s a recipe, I don’t bother with the jam they recommend:

I also pickle EVERYTHING, so I would pickle some. You can throw them in salads that way. Put them on burgers, etc.

This is my favorite apple treat. It’s so good!

We also like to use our apples to make apple bread and applesauce.

We love this old family recipe, so simple and yummy!

AUNT BESS'S DESSERT aka Apple Cake
    This goes back 6 generations!

    4 cups chopped apples
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup oil
1 cup chopped nuts (optional, but great for texture)
    2 eggs (beaten)
    2 tsp vanilla

Mix the above, then add after mixing the dry ingredients

    2 cups flour
    2 tsp baking soda
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp salt

(I added a half teaspoon each of ginger, cardamom, nutmeg and a bit of clove and sprayed with Pam.)

Pour into 9 x 13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or till done.
Good with whipped cream or warmed with ice cream.

Agreed! I'm not a great cook/baker, but would love to try some new things. I really like apples.

Do you have a recipe and recommendation for the best apples to use?
