Default What are your regular rotation dinners?

I suspect this post is a candidate to be moved, and hope it's not annoying to post here.

We are fresh back into routine! (Separate post that I'm considering: how to deal with tweens who seem to require an additional meal after school.)

What are your standby weekly dinners?

    Us:
Flatbread (naan works) pizzas - cheese, tomato sauce, whatever else we have in the fridge
Rice bowls - rice, some kind of meat (flank steak or meatballs), mango, soy sauce, avocado, cucumber
meat sauce pasta - jarred sauce or tomatoes, carrots/onions/celery sautéed, sausage
sheet pan - sausages or chicken thighs, potatoes, veggies (peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, whatever else we have)
taco night - usually ground beef with seasoning, guacamole, all the toppings and tortillas
    fish, sautéed greens, rice

-Salmon (wild, frozen from Costco), rice, broccoli. I have baked tofu.
-turkey tacos, usually ends up more like taco salads. I have tofu again.
-pasta with veggie meatballs. I have zucchini noodles.
-TJs orange chicken with rice and broccoli. I have the vegan version with cauliflower rice.
    - baked white fish (haddock or cod) with Panko+olive oil and lemon zest topping. With baked potatoes and veg.
    - veggie burgers (kids haven’t realized beyond burgers aren’t made of meat yet), alexia sweet potato puffs, veg.

Most of the time we have a really simple salad (greens, grape tomatoes, cucumbers) along side.

On the weekends I’ll do something a little more complicated. Some repeat ones are grilled chicken thighs marinated in soy/brown sugar/ginger/garlic, chicken tenders marinated in yogurt and lemon and “tandoori spice”, seafood risotto in the instant pot, fish chowder, chicken hummus meatballs, and more I’m forgetting.

Love this thread. I'll preface this by saying that one of my "Back to School" goals is upping my dinner quality. It went DOWN first during the pandemic when shopping scared me, then further during this past summer when juggling working and full time kid duty made it hard to find time to shop and cook!

We kind of have a boring rhythm with many repeats and kind of a template.

    Generally we do:

Breakfast for dinner (this is a favorite that everyone will eat--anything from omelets, bacon, smoothies, waffles, etc.)
Pasta (My kids don't like red sauce! They love homemade pesto though. Sometimes with meatballs or chicken breast. Lately, not so much)
Some kind of chicken/rice/veggie combo almost weekly.
Tacos/Burritos at least once a week. Ours are super boring and the kids don't do enough veggies on these nights)
Vegetarian--I make a quinoa/black bean salad, sweet potato fries and a green salad--weird combo but I love this meal
At least twice a week I'll make something from TJs or Costco that you heat in the oven and serve. Orange Chicken, Taquitos, pizza, chicken strips

I'd like to add some more variety. I want to start making soup and bread night again. My soups require more variety in ingredients (I usually can't get everything I need from Costco, unlike most of the above) and better planning.

    Ours is

Monday: boxed mac & cheese w/broccoli
    Tuesday: tacos (w/rice and corn)
Wednesday: pasta, sausage, broccoli, and bread (bread-maker or store-bought)
Thursday: wild card (sometimes we cook; sometimes, it's leftovers)
    Friday: takeout

    Weekends are also wild cards.

My frozen broccoli always ends up so sad. Do you have a trick to making it well?
