We're fine tuning things after talking to a friend/Italian buff. New plan is 3 nights somewhere along the coast (everytime I think I settled on something, a new idea is sparked), 2 nights in Florence, 1 night in Venice and 2 nights in Rome. Still crazy overwhelmed but slowly figuring things out.

there are just too many amazing places to visit in Italy. enjoy! Like a PP, I really loved Siena. As for coastal - I've visited the area around Genoa, as well as areas closer to Venice (Trieste) , Ancona (Senigallia), Napoli and parts of Sicily. Had to cancel my A.C. trip, but hope to get there - and to Puglia one day. Every area has its own special charm - so you'll be winning wherever you go
