It looks like this number is from one study in Hong Kong (https://academic.oup.com/cid/advance...iab989/6445179). Most other studies have put the risk at more like 1 in 10,000 for the primary series (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2110737), and possibly much lower for a booster (https://www.reuters.com/world/middle...rs-2021-10-01/). Studies have also shown the risk of myocarditis from a COVID infection being much higher (https://publications.aap.org/aapnews...eck=redirected, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8328065/) and in B10 athletes, it was up to 2.3% having COVID-related myocarditis: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2780548.

The risk of myocarditis is much higher from actually getting Covid BUT if you are fully vaccinated, and then manage to become infected (rate is already decreased), THEN what is your chance of getting myocarditis from infection? I would think that someone who is fully vaccinated and gets Covid is much less likely to get myocarditis from that infection compared to an unvaccinated person who gets Covid. And is that rate less than or more than the chance of getting myocarditis from the vaccine? No one is advocating against not vaccinating for Covid. So the new question is what is the rate of myocarditis in fully vaccinated people who get Covid vs the rate of myocarditis after the 3rd dose of vaccine (mostly Pfizer which is where they saw the increase in the first place).

Our pediatric cardiologist said that they shouldn't even be calling this myocarditis after vaccine the same name as myocarditis from a virus. He said it's not remotely in the same category in severity and by lumping them together it scares people away from the vaccine. He wishes they would give it a new name because it's treatable and mild, and he would rather treat it all day than just a few cases of virus induced myocarditis which is bad. I've read similar statements from pediatric cardiologists at some of the big children's hospitals as well.

He also referenced that B10 athlete study in our conversations and said that the risk is around what you mentioned for the first set of vaccines, not the lower number mentioned earlier. He recommending boostering as soon as it's available for the 12-15. People don't have to get the booster is they don't want it, but I can't wait for the opportunity to be available to those of us who do want it for our children.

    That's a great question!

I'm also curious what would happen with the myocarditis rates if those who were in the age range of risk but eligible for Moderna (18-30) got the Pfizer vaccine instead of Moderna, since they found that the Moderna vaccine was causing myocarditis more than Pfizer. Norway recommended that anyway on that age range get Pfizer as the second shot even if they had Moderna first to help lessen the chance of myocarditis.

Crazy as in "high incidence" or crazy and is "no concern"?

In my opinion, it is crazy to vaccinate adolescent boys.
