    Default Bug spray?

Ds is going to a camping type camp. Bug spray is understandably on the list of things to bring. I can't remember the last time I bought bug spray. I don't know which bugs are and aren't in the area he will be in, but lets just assume anything you would worry about. What type/brand of bug spray to I buy for him? Thanks!

Yep we use this too. When we are in town I use the natural stuff but when camping or playing near water and on the woods in the summer, we use 100% DEET. It helps with ticks too.

    Wirecutter recommended this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BSN5YLN...AAAAAAV17&th=1

I bought it but haven't tried it yet. Picaridin is supposed to be less smelly than DEET, I think.

I treat shoes, hats, etc., with permethrin. Sent the kids to camp with DEET wipes. DD also really liked the picardin we tried last year.

We also treat camp clothes with permetherin. I buy the "Dry" version of Deep Woods Off. I hate that tacky, sticky feeling. Works very well for us.

Another recommendation to pretreat clothing, socks and shoes with permethrin. It is the most effective thing you can do to prevent tick bites. We use Lemon Eucalyptus oil spray for skin.

This is what we use. It doesn’t smell bad like the sprays with deet.

Deep Woods OFF! in the green bottle. It's effective, especially against ticks. Contains DEET, but for tick-repelling "natural" stuff doesn't work.

If you want to go another step, and you have the time & space to do it, get permethrin spray to treat his clothing (especially socks!) and gear-bag before he heads off.
