Default Can anyone help with graduation gift ideas?

    Hello,
I'm looking for some advice on graduation gift ideas for three different situations. First is our niece graduating from college, second my best friend's son also graduating from college and third, our daughter's best friend graduating from 5th grade. I typically don't like to give money but is that what most do? And if so, how much is typical? Side note, the 5th grader leaves for Europe for a month the day after graduation so in her case I'm thinking maybe spending money might be the best option. I don't really know how much is appropriate though- was thinking maybe $100- but don't want to overstep boundaries with the family. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

My ds got money almost exclusively for his high school graduation - I can't really think of anyone besides his grandmother who gave him an actual gift. Most people gave 50 or 100- grandparents gave more. $100 seems like a lot for a fifth grade graduation. I don't think my kids got any gifts for 5th/8th grade gradations that I can remember.

    This 100%

My best friend gave DS1 a book for his graduation last year and it's still sitting in his room at home. Money would have been put to much better use.

We also don't do gifts for 5th grade graduation.

$ or gift cards for the college kids.
A friend's 5th grader? $20. I honestly wouldn't get anything unless there's a party you were invited to. If you only just know she's graduating, a card alone is fine but $20 is a nice token. $100 is way outside the range of appropriate though, ime.

I wouldn’t spend much on the elementary graduation.

For the niece if $100 is the norm then do that. For the other friend I think anything between $100 appropriate for the college friend but you could probably also do $50-$75 and no one would bat an eye (or at least I hope they wouldn’t). I am sure the college friend will get more from family but unless he is like a second son I wouldn’t feel the pressure to give more than $100. No one is going to resent someone who gave less or honestly remember who gave what.

I would do $100 for the niece, somewhere in $50-100 range for friends son, and either nothing or a card or at most $20 for fifth grade graduate. That doesn’t really seem like a gift getting occasion.

$20 for the fifth grader or a gift card for ice cream.
$50 for the niece—could be a gift card.
    Friend’s son: $25-$50.
