I need to bookmark some options for next summer. I remember a thread before but can't remember the name. I know I asked ds2 if he was interested at the time I read it and he said "nah" but now he says he'd really like to do one.

Overland and Wilderness Adventures. Putney may also have outdoor trips.
I have been looking into this lately. Are you only wanting outdoor adventure or just travel?

I found a lot of teen wilderness trips at Nature centers too that were much cheaper than these trip companies. It would be worthwhile to look around at the nature centers or summer camps near you. A lot of the summer camps offer trip/adventure camps for teens too.
I remember that thread! I'd love for someone to link it. Thanks for asking about it. Those are some interesting options that PPs have posted too.
Thanks!
Our nature center had great day camps up to 7th grade. Then nothing for older kids.
He’s into survival type stuff.
FYI my oldest went to Europe with EFT. Well organized.

My siblings and I all went to Camp Widjiwagan, as well as my kids. It's in the Boundary Waters (MN side) and you also canoe in the Quetico (Canadian side) https://www.ymcanorth.org/camps/camp_widjiwagan
There is also backpacking, but it started out as a canoeing camp, and that's what we all did, so I can't speak to the backpacking part but I've heard it's fantastic as well.
It's an amazing camp and you really learn to be self sufficient in the outdoors.
National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) is the gold standard.
Also check out the Teton Science School.
They also have backpacking trips for teens through the Sierra Club.

Take a look at Adventure Treks: https://www.adventuretreks.com/
I have 2 friends whose DCs have participated, with stellar reviews!
I'm so old school- I want to send off for brochures for all of them.
We've had great experiences with Overland Summers, but also take a look at Road Less Traveled, Moondance, NOLS and Adventure Treks. We know people who have gone with all of them and had great experiences.
