I used to live in Munich - anywhere in the Altstadt would be amazing. Many hotels around Hbf are also good - we've stayed at the Sofitel. Areas in Schwabing./Maxvorstadt are also convenient - and probably any decently rated hotels within the first few rings will be great.

If you're interested in a hotel outside of the super touristy area and convenient to the train station (i.e., paris to munich), I liked le robinet d'or - near canal st. martin. Disclaimer - I've been to Paris a few times so I intentionally wanted to be outside the main tourist zone.

The hotel was great. Probably a bit overpriced for what you get (typical European city hotel with small rooms and bathrooms), but the location was perfect, the service was great, the food was great. My only true complaint is that I didn’t like the towels

Munich was really amazing. Loved it.
