Default Can this wait till tomorrow (cut fingertip)

So DH is on day 3 of Covid isolation and tonight I sharpened my knife before starting dinner. 5 minutes later I practically cut off the tip of my finger! Just right after my nail and almost all the way through. DS1 poured on some Wound Seal which helps everything clot and after 20 minutes of holding pressure it seemed ok. So I put some guaze and 2 bandaids and immediately started bleeding through everything. I then put on a medical glove with ice cubes in the tip to numb it as I needed to finish dinner. After that I wrapped and folded 2 more large pieces of guaze and it was still bleeding so added a few layers of tape to keep pressure. It's been 3 hours and seems ok now and I took 4 ibuprofen for the pain. But there's like 10 layers on it and I don't want to take them off to look. I hate going to urgent care or the ER so thought I would just call my regular doctor in the morning. Would they do stitches on something like this? I've never had stitches ever. I'm just annoyed.

Ouch. This happened to someone I know and she went to urgent care. I am no expert but I would go in asap! Hugs.

No personal experience, but I would probably go to the ER or urgent care.

There is a time limit if you wait too long (a number of hours- that I can't remember now...) that they won't be able to stitch it if necessary. Due to the possibility of infection. It sounds like you probably should go get it looked at tonight.

You will need stitches. Go to the urgent care, if they are still open. I did something similar a few years back. Either have your mom or DS1 take you.

I’d go in. Don’t want to miss the window when they can help.

Don't wait. There is a time limit to how long from the cut happening to getting stiches they will do. Otherwise, you have to let it heal openly, which requires a lot of bandage changes and wound care, and a much higher infection risk.

Edited to add: and please let us know tomorrow how you are doing!

Thanks everyone! I decided to go to the ER walking distance to my house. I'm here now in the waiting area. They said 90 minutes to 2 hour wait. Probably good I came. I'm already starting to bleed through all my bandages.
