Huge congratulations on earning the job you deserve! Standing up for your worth with your feet is the best in these situations. To look at you and say people don't leave jobs for money is so disingenuous. Go be awesome where they appreciate you!

“Sleep on it” - how condescending. Of course you’ve given the decision much thought. That comment alone proves you’ve made the right decision

thank you! And i thought the SAME thing!!
thank you, I’d like to think the same thing. I thought it was rather condescending comment also.
I think if i wasn’t as sensitive to these types of things, it wouldn’t feel as bad. For years I tolerated it and I know many others wouldn’t think twice about the types of comments one gets, especially as a woman in this field, as they think of it as “just a job” and there are always a-holes everywhere and you just ignore them. Though at some point it was really starting to grate on me that it was never going to change and I also I was getting burnt out but not recognized to the level I felt i deserved. And i realized i had to at least see what it was like somewhere else. The idea was really scary (and still is to some degree), but the idea of feeling “stuck” or never living up to my potential was even scarier.

Was listening to a 1999 album today (SHeDAISY, All Mixed Up), and thought of you.... The first song:
"Little Good-byes" starts as:
I'm gonna tell you something you don't want to hear
You never listen when I talk
Maybe you'll listen when I walk....
Hope you're doing great!

Congratulations on your new job!!!
Your story resonates with me so much. I put in way too many years at a school with a principal who didn’t appreciate everything extra I did. I took a leap of faith and left. It took a year to find a permanent spot but I’m at a dream school with admin who constantly verbalizes and shows appreciation for all of us. For me pay is the same as the district has a set scale, but my own mental well being needed the change. I’m so much happier!!!
Congratulations! Glad everything worked out with your job search!
