Default lightweight rain jacket with wider waist

    Hello,
I am trying to find a light weight rain jacket for a camping trip and having difficulty finding one that fits at the bottom. I have already tried on a couple at REI. Any suggestions for one that might have a wider waist band? TIA

Frogg Toggs men’s, maybe? They’re very lightweight and fairly inexpensive, too.

So you want more of a park length than a standard rain jacket?

Can you clarify what you are looking for? Is it yet another style? a link for one that didn't work would be useful

This brand is the best raincoat I’ve had so far. I have the Curve jacket but many are more casual and most are unisex and seem a bit wider cut. https://www.us.rains.com/collections/jackets-women

both of these look good! I'm undecided on the length but I think either would be fine. I looked at styles similar to both and my problem is, I can't get the zipper up at the bottom, hence the need for something wider on the bottom. I am in a medium and the arms are already too long so I don't think I can size up. Thank you for these recommendations- I don't think these are the ones I tried on but look similar.

I have found Marmot to fill a full size slim- best avoid those, maybe?

Patagonia is one of my go-to’s. It sounds like you need to find the right cut and adjustable elastic bands in any crucial places for fit. Many now have elastic cord with a spring loaded adjuster at the bottom.

The mom edit has a great post on raincoats. Generally, she loves TNF.

There was a more recent update but I can’t find it.

The TNF City Breeze has been recommended by them many times.

OP, I forgot my usual trick for too-long sleeves. Consider a coat with elastic and Velcro cuffs- they still adjust, but the elastic keeps them up a bit. They keep the rain out better because they seal better. That may allow you to get the right size to zip.

It may not be the look you want, though. It’s more casual than the straight ones that adjust less.

I’ve posted about these before but I’m a huge fan of the Joules packable raincoats. I’m a pear shape and size 12-14 on bottom and I have the size 12 in this coat. It is very roomy on bottom and has a cinch waist. I have short arms and find that just rolling up the elastic sleeves works fine. Dd loved mine so much she asked for one. I actually have several of these jackets- I keep one in my car for unexpected rainy days and one I keep another one with my camping gear. When I was trying to choose between rain jackets I actually put each one on and turned the shower on myself to see how waterproof they were! This one kept me very dry. I love how easy it packs away in its own pocket: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/joules-g...ults&color=419

Nordstroms has carried these for years and different patterns come and go so if you don’t like the available patterns watch for new ones.

Marmot Precip - they have a wide range of sizes, including plus sizing. You can almost always find one on sale on Amazon (outdated colors - whatever). They are a go-to rainjacket for backpackers.
