We have also been planning on touring UWMadison and with the same restrictions. We are trying not to miss school. We have been watching the UWMadison website hoping weekend tours would be available or ones that matched up with some of our breaks. So far most tours are during the week which is annoying. Are there any other schools nearby that your dd wants to tour? Anything in Chicago? It’s less than 3 hours away. Visiting in February would give her a good look at the coldest and bleakest time of year here. Sorry I don’t have any hotel recommendations. The university is very big and spread out over the city but Madison itself is a pretty small town. We were planning on spending half a day there taking some tours of the campus, housing and engineering department before driving over to Milwaukee (so ds2 can check out MSOE).
If you have extra time, our capital building is known as one of the more beautiful ones. It’s worth a visit.
