    Default ISO Crohn’s friendly meals

A friend of mine will be having surgery soon. I would like to bring her a meal after surgery. Her DH has Crohn’s disease. Anyone have any recommendations for Crohn’s family friendly meals I can make? TIA

My father had Crohn’s disease and he always avoided difficult to digest vegetables (corn, beans, etc.), as well as, whole nuts and seeds and very spicy or fatty foods. I know some Crohn’s patients avoid gluten too. I would just ask her husband if he has any dietary restrictions. My father, was much more restrictive when he was in the midst of or recovering from a Crohn’s flare up.

I think it totally depends on the person if diet affects them. I would just ask if her DH has any dietary restrictions. DS1 has ulcerative colitis and feels like SUPER spicy food (ie. Dave's hot chicken reaper spice level) and gummy candies give him cramping. He still doesn't avoid them though. Some people are only affected during an actual flare up and would avoid excess fiber foods like raw veggies and popcorn as it irritates the intestines.
