Default Replacement for Finish Classic dishwasher tabs?

UGH! These have been discontinued and are now the style of the quantum Finish tab and have more of a bubble plastic coating than they previously did. I tried Cascade gel packs (when I got a sample) and they didnt fully dissolve. I had a similar problem with some of the Finish Quantum pods I last bought at Costco. I have used the Costco brand tabs (which are a powder in a pack) before but I would still prefer something that doesnt have plastic that is supposed to dissolve (so drains dont get clogged or I am not finding residue from undissolved tablets on the bottom of my dishwasher). People on Reddit/Houzz forums recommended German detergents Somat or Miele tabs but they are way more expensive than what I am used to paying (Somat is $29.99 on Amazon for 77 tabs, and Miele is $34 for 60 tabs). I am tempted to try the Somat tabs but wonder if anyone else has any other solutions. We run our dishwasher about every two days but occasionally daily.

ETA: I have a Miele Futura Crystal dishwasher I bought in 2020 (this model is now discontinued but was the mid range model of that line). I haven?t had any mechanical issues with it and would like to keep it that way.

Old Finish vs. new Finish (the old Finish ones have the tiniest amount of coating on them but I never had an issue with them not dissolving)

Is there a reason you can't just use the liquid detergent? My friend and I have been told by two different service repair people not to use the tabs in our dishwashers. I've never had an issue with liquid detergent not fully dissolving.

I wonder what is going on. Finish also discontinued their powdered detergent. I am finding it difficult to find any powdered detergent except for cascade (doesn't work well for us) and 7th generation (can only find small boxes now). Our dishwasher instructions say to use powder.

Do you have a walmart nearby? I used to use their powder and liked how it worked. I've switched over to pods bc then my kids can help load the dw (We put soap in it immediately as a clear sign it is dirty). https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Val...0&from=/search

Default Replacement for Finish Classic dishwasher tabs?

Thanks! I remember reading here quite some time ago that American detergents caused too much suds in European dishwashers and when we bought the machine it recommended pods but I didnt want to pay for the Miele tabs and when the Cascade, and now the Finish Quantum pods werent dissolving all of the way I found the basic Finish tabs and those worked quite well so I kept using them.

I ended up ordering the Somat ones but yes might try some basic powder as well, and yes we have a Wal Mart close to us.

My favorite are the Ecover tabs, which I used for years. They look like your original Finish ones and come in a packaging that you open and take the tab out (so no plastic at all in your dishwasher). They were out of stock for awhile, but looks like they're back! Gotta go change my Subscribe and Save back to them!

After having to take apart the dishwasher yearly and clean the gunk out of the filter and chopper, we don't use tabs any more. Powder seems to work just fine and we don't need to clean the dishwasher as often. Might be worth a try.

Thankfully this is pretty easy with my machine. I clean the food filter every couple of weeks as you just pull out the food filter and surprisingly it has never been super dirty or clogged. Every time a dishwasher pod doesn?t dissolve the remnants are always in the bottom of dishwasher and the pod is in tact.
