Default Planning for next year--GLACIER and Waterton?

We're looking to go to Glacier National Park next year. Probably early August. We're driving there and we're already working on setting up a schedule to sign up for the Goin to the Sun Pass or whatever that thing is called!

Any good guides or ideas on how to make this trip amazing? You might notice in my title that I'm tacking on Waterton National Park in Canada. We're also working on getting passports for my kids. There will be 6 of us. We're not big campers. We probably should be looking for lodging NOW?

    Thank you in advance!

yes, look for lodging now. We actually found Waterton to be nicer than Glacier NP. They are both amazing parks!!! Check out the www.nps.gov site for each park--I always like to check out the park newsletter--it will be for this summer but you can see what types of special ranger talks might be available etc. You will need bear spray if you hike anywhere. There are nice easy hikes to do in the park. We stayed outside the west entrance in an air bnb which was great. And then we stayed at Many Glaciers--I believe they have upgraded it because it was pretty bad 20 years ago :-) In Waterton, we stayed in a town house or something like that. We loved the town. We did a hike to the US border and then you get on the boat and come back via the lake. Really cool. We went to Buffalo Jump monument in Alberta one day (it was raining or something) and that was really cool. You all will have a great time!
