Central America travel for a soonish multigen trip?
We live on the opposite coast from my parents and as everyone's gotten older I think we've all kind of gotten a bit bored of trips back and forth between our homes. It's esp. more obvious now that the kids are older/typical teen/tweens, hard to find activities that they and the adults are interested in. We don't have any plans yet for thanksgiving (the kids get the whole week off!) or Christmas which is an extra long vacation this year so I asked my mom if she had any interest in us doing a trip together someplace. We all like snorkeling and the female side of the family loves the beach, I was thinking maybe Belize or Curacao, she expressed interest in either Costa Rica or Panama. They haven't been to any of them, we stopped in all of them but Belize on a cruise 6 years ago (and didn't get off the boat in Panama, just sat in the lake after going through the canal). My parents are in their late 70's, pretty good health but not super athletic/adventurous. My mom loves cultural/historical things and has a pretty good grasp of Spanish. My dad would be content to stay home but drags himself along, he has unfortunately lost most of his hearing over the last few years. I know there's some past threads on Costa Rica and Belize, suggestions/tips on whether this is a good idea to try and do together? Could we even pull off for this fall/winter, or should we just say for another time?
I'm pretty sure a cruise is off the table for my parents, unless it was a very small boat.
