Yes my parents who are 74, and 72 could pass away unexpectedly as could my in-laws who are 78, and 76. Thankfully with my parents they have gone through houses of parents, and extended family members who have passed away (and my grandma already downsized once) so they do go through there stuff on a semi regular basis. My 95 year old grandma is also pretty good about getting rid of stuff due to having to get rid of stuff (along with the help of my parents) of her SILs stuff who passed a few years ago. My parents decided to do experience gifts for my grandma this year who requested tickets to the touring Chinese ballet show, and a walking tour of SoFi Stadium (although my mom isn?t sure how she is going to handle the walking part of that experience).

    Gift giving is hard.

Annie, my mom would love that casserole dish! I clicked on the link before reading the rest of the comments and am disappointed to have missed the sale. I'll keep watching it. My mom is also very good about cleaning out unused items, and as a regular hostess for the family and someone who loves blue and white, it would be a good fit for her too.

My mom would like symphony tickets or any live music event, gift cards to restaurants, but mostly just time to spend with us and her grand kids. She picked out a pair of slippers this year.
Last year's hit was a heated throw blanket. She loves that thing.
DH got my mom an heated throw blanket a few years ago and she loves it too!

I would love a link for the heated throws. I’m on the hunt for a cordless heated throw.

We generally just give gift cards to their favorite restaurants. They don't need much in their house and just buy what they need, so this works. But this year I am getting an Aura frame, as I've heard so much about it.

I try to give consumable gifts now. For my elderly parent, we are getting a calendar, a few things to wear and food... lots of food . Honey and maple syrup are my current gifts for most people on my shopping list for people that I know will use them.
For others, it's cookies and candy. No one really needs more "stuff".

I’ve been meaning to come back and post an idea. Depending on how cold it is where your mom lives, a nice pair of wool-lined leather gloves are a good idea. If she goes to church services a nice new wool coat might something she’d like and use for a long time. I personally love giving photo Christmas ornaments to friends and family who celebrate Christmas.
