    Default Has anyone heard of or used and Itaki cooker?

    Trying to up my preparation game for when we go away and I saw these portable cookers and was wondering if they are any good?

    They look somewhat similar to zojirushi rice cookers (which can cook other things). The zojirushi come in different sizes some have inserts like a steam basket to fit into the rice bowl so you can cook multiple items at once theoretically. It has a locking lid and a handle and travels well.

    This seems like it would be great for dorm rooms. Anyone know if these types of cookers are allowed?

    Depends on the school. DS isn't allowed to have any form of small appliance in his dorm other than the school-provided microwave and fridge but I know other schools allow much more.

    Same with my kid. She can have an ice maker, a Keurig, and some kids have small blenders but from what I can tell anything that heats up is a no.

    If for some reason she doesn?t get an apartment next year for sophomore housing (required; from what I can tell only the apartments have actual cooking appliances other than a microwave) I might have to look at something like this. The meal plan for sophomores is the most expensive option; might be more expensive than ordering Factor meals or the like from a local chef service.
