Default Christmas part dress for Vegas

Bit of fun...my husband’s work has a Christmas party in Vegas in December. This year I’d like to get a dress from rent the runway, and use it as a goal to work towards. I’ve been working out for last year and losing weight. Want to help me look at dresses? Post a link to a dress in the comments.

I’m 5’3”, currently 142, but hope to be in 130s by Christmas. I’m very pear shaped, usually wear knee length dress, I’ve got small waist and defined shoulders/arms (weight lifting is showing results). I’m 46, so nothing too short or revealing. Many of DH’s colleagues are in 20s and 30s, and they wear tight/short dress as it’s Vegas. Even if I could wear that kind of dress, I wouldn’t be comfortable. So want classy, but something party too!

Not sure I understand your plan. On RTR the dresses change over regularly for rent so as to reflect style and season. Are you wanting to buy from them? Otherwise, you can't really start looking until a lot closer to the event.

I’m looking for an inspirational dress. A goal to keep me working out. Closer to the event, I’ll look for actual dress.

What would you wear to Vegas Christmas party?

I didn't look at RTR because it's too vast. But, something like these

I caved and looked at RTR but not sure you'll be able to see what I see
    this style, different color https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/d...d_waist_sheath
Ugh, I forgot how much I hate using RTR. I clicked on that dress now the results page is acting up.

I'm short too. I think if it hits below the knee it looks pretty frumpy. Go with something above the knee. That isn't "short" plus you're talking about a night out in Vegas. There's no harm in going a few inches above the knee- you'll still look appropriate.

Here’s a dumb question just for my interest (I’m glad that I no longer need to think about dressing for events like this!). Looking at the various links snugglebuggles listed, I noticed that most of them are dry clean only or hand wash. No big surprise. However, the lace-scuba crepe dress is "spot clean only"! I’ve encountered spot clean for stuffed animals and the like, but never for actual clothing. Is this a thing?!

I love the first silver dress. I’ve never worn a sequined dress, I’d say Vegas is the place to do it! Also like the one shoulder dress. Both are different to what I’d wear in past. I’ll see what I can wear when it gets closer. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah the RTR results page wasn’t working for me either.

I put your parameters into RtR, I even put in "pear-shape". Their selection didn't seem that great for a holiday dress, I guess it's seasonal. These are some of the ones that I think might work. Awesome that you are working out and getting into the shape you want.

I think given it's in Vegas, you are celebrating and new you and many of those around will be wearing Itty bitty dresses, go a little shorter, a little out of your comfort zone. I always think a halter style looks fabulous and shows off shoulders and arms. I'll try to link one I have worn that would work.

Something like this would be perfect, the silhouette is very flattering.

White House Black Market has so many pretty dresses. If you know your size poshmarket has great deals.

I like all of those... again not something I would wear before as trying to cover up. I’ll add these to my inspiration list
