Title says it all. I have been told by at least two gp doctors that I have a perfectly working thyroid. It turns out that my t4 is 0.9, which according to various internet resources is really low, because the normal range starts at 4.5. Is it possible that the lab my doctors use is different, and .9 is normal? On Monday I will have my bloodwork faxed to me, but assuming that is the case, can you tell me what you know about t4? Thanks!

All I know is that I am on Armour and it works on both T3 and T4, which my endo says is a good idea. I feel really good on it.

Was it total T4 or free T4?
Total T4 range is 4.5 to 12.5.
Free T4 range is 0.7 to 2.0.
My guess is that it was a Free T4 test and you are 'normal'.

After I posted I found that as well. It seems really crazy to remove a perfectly working thyroid.
